Our DJs

Our DJs are among the best in the business

No matter what the occasion, we are confident that our DJs can keep you and your guests happy for your whole occasion.

With over twenty years of experience, we have made weddings, engagements, civil partnerships, corporate events, Christmas parties, student balls, children's parties and other family events very special for, literally, tens of thousands of people over the years.

All of our DJs are highly experienced, well-presented, courteous and sensitive to the audience’s music requirements. Each carries a wide selection of party favourites from the last 50 years, ranging from Frank Sinatra and The Beatles through to the latest Top 40 chart, and every show we do is tailored specifically to the audience on the night.

dj-superfly-cartoon-charactFor those more specialised occasions we also have a number of DJs who specialise in individual styles of music such as House, R’n’B, Garage, Drum & Bass, Rock'n'Roll, Motown, Soul, Jazz, Funk, Salsa, Rock & Indie, Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, Nineties and the Noughties.  These include a range of good all-round party DJs, and semi-famous dance DJs Scott Free and Dan Jones, plus the infamous 70s Disco cheesemeister, "DJ Superfly".

All of our DJs bring with them state-of-the-art equipment, which means that the show they put on looks great and sounds fantastic.  For a guide on what equipment we provide and how much it costs, see our Mobile Discos page.

Here are some profiles of our most popular DJs...

Scott Free

Scott is the consumate professional entertainer.  A singer, guitarist, DJ and compere with twenty-five years experience behind him, Scott can handle just about any situation and make it a fun experience for all involved.

dj_scott_free_in_ayia_napa.jpgIn the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s Scott was the main resident DJ at Reading University Students Union, helping to shape the course of the entertainment programme for most of Reading's students.  He then went on to promote student nights in many of the bars and clubs in the town.  Scott has also worked regularly for Thames Valley University, University College London (UCL) and University of Westminster.

Scott went on to develop and DJ at mainstream nights at all of Reading's premier nightclubs in the 1990s and early 2000s, including The Matrix, Fez Club, Level 1, Po-Na-Na and RG1. dj_scott_free_in_bow_tie.jpg

In 2003 and 2004 Scott was the only DJ ever to be voted best all-round DJ two years in a row in the popular Cyprus holiday resort of Ayia Napa.  As well as making guests appearances at a variety of other bars and nightclubs there, he had nightly DJ residencies at Monkey Business and The Castle and worked as MC and promoter at Starsky & Hutch.

Scott now works mainly on the mobile circuit, providing his services for student balls, wedding receptions and corporate events.

Dan Jones

Dan started his DJ career on the London scene in the late 90s where he learned to work the crowds at UCL Student Union's nightclub.  He has since DJ-ed in some of London's top clubs, including Ministry of Sound, and has even taken his talents to Ayia Napa, Cyprus, and Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

dan_jones.jpgAs a function DJ, Dan has entertained party-goers at some of the UK's most prestigious and glamorous venues, including the Grosvenor House Hotel, Café Royal and The Hilton Park Lane.

Dan's DJ style covers party music from the '60s to the '10s, although he is equally at home spinning the latest club tunes and telling the crowd to reach for those lasers!

Jon Hayes   dj_jon_hayes.jpg

Inspired by his father, who was also a DJ, Jon started out as a "bedroom DJ" when he was just 14.  He officially joined Top Cat Entertainments in 2007 where he quickly honed his skills as a great all-round party and club DJ and then went on to master the skills required to be a really good karaoke host.

A "rough diamond", Jon is loved everywhere he plays.  He has developed a real passion for hosting karaoke nights and has a knack for warming the crowd at such events.  He enjoys most R'n'B, House and Garage but can easily play a rich diversity of music - whatever the majority of the crowd demands.  In the past Jon has held residencies at Henry J Beans (Wimbledon), Walkabout (Reading) and currently has a Sunday night karaoke residency at The Rose in Maidenhead.

Jamie Mackay

Jamie has been DJing officially since 2001.  He started out hosting a radio show at Reading University's stuendt radio station, then joined Top Cat Entertainments as a mobile and club DJ.   Jamie looks back with fondness at his residencies at the Fez Club Students Night which he did for a while on Tuesdays, but his favourite residency of all was Sunday evenings at Revolution in Reading, playing an eclectic mix of chillout, funk, soul and laidback beats.

Jamie is always keen to impress and satisfy as many requests as possible – the more obscure the better!  He has particular penchants for 80s Pop, Indie and House music and just can’t get enough of Electronica at the moment.
